An old friend asked me to do this painting as a commission for a Father's Day present. I remember this dock very well and could remember walking across the gaps in the boards as I sketched and then painted them. It is gone now as the new owners of the property put in a bulkhead. The boat pictured was the second crabbing boat and was an olive drab color. The first crabbing boat was white with a nice red stripe. Old-time wooden boats, both. The yellow that is by the stern is pine pollen as the reference picture was taken in early spring. I included that just to be accurate. I took a quick picture of the painting before I matted and framed it, it was not pinkish like this, that is the CFL's at work.
