"A Bird of the Air" with Director Margaret Whitton and Producer Steven Tabakin coming to Dare County
Manteo, NC - Dare County Arts Council presents "A Bird of the Air" with Director Margaret Whitton and Producer Steven Tabakin as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers at Roanoke Island Festival Park, Manteo, NC on Saturday, September 17th, 2011. Following a 7pm screening of the feature film, "A Bird of the Air," Margaret Whitton, Steven Tabakin and the audience will engage in a discussion about the film and their work as filmmakers. A reception with the filmmakers will follow the question and answer session. Tickets are available for $12 from brownpapertickets.com or at Dare County Arts Council's interim location, at 3708 N. Lyman (Jackson Hurst) is a loner whose job patrolling highways at night, aiding stranded motorists keeps him at a distance from other people. When a rare, highly talkative parrot flies into his home one day, Lyman needs to figure out where the bird comes from and tries to decode its often cryptic utterances. Enlisting the aid of Fiona (Rachel Nichols), an unconventional librarian who is as interested in Lymanʼs secrets as she is in the bird's, the pair set off on a search that doesn't always lead them where they think they're going, but gradually leads them to one another.
