The Dare County Tax Office has gotten "down and dirty" with the taxpayers of this county!
If you are a real property owner, who, like the vast majority people in Dare County, chose to wait and pay your 2012 taxes until later in the year (the taxes don't become delinquent until after December 30th), you probably got a bold-red-lettered, threatening bill in your mailbox today, stating it is the 2nd NOTICE FOR YOUR 2012 TAX BILL!
This is the first time Dare County has ever sent out this kind of threatening notice, and no doubt, many found it JOLTING when they opened the envelope! What is going on with the Dare County Tax Office?
Have they been instructed by the county manager or county commissioners to suck as much money as fast as they can from Dare taxpayers? There is nothing illegal about taxpayers waiting until the last minute to pay their property taxes, and given the way Dare County fritters it away, it's no wonder people hang on to their money as long as possible.
EOD, for one, never pays his annual property taxes until the end of December. And, frankly, he wonders how much money Dare County wasted by sending out these absurd, demanding notices!
The first notice, sent to each property owner in the county was sufficient enough. Why is Dare County taking such an unsavory approach to tax collection, especially given the fact that most taxpayers in the county will be soaked bad enough when the new reval figures and tax rates comes out after the first of the year!
